Do small chips and scratches affect sound of the cello?

Q: I accidentally dropped my bow on the cello and it made a small chip on the body (in the size of a grain rice). Will it affect the sound?
A: Don’t be afraid. This can happen from time to time and these small chips or scratches does not affect the sound. It is quite a common thing related to playing an instrument. 🙂
