How hard can I pluck a cello string?

Q: I know it probably sounds dumb, but I am new to the cello and I am not sure how hard I can pluck a string. I am a little scared that it will snap off of the bridge or hurt my fingers or something.

A: You don’t have to worry. The cello and the strings can withstand A LOT of pressure. You can pluck hard. The only thing that really threatens is that the string will get a little “under” the tune.
