How important is choice of a cello rosin?

„I started playing a half year ago, so I am still new to cello. When I bought my cello, it came with the cheapest rosin. Should I upgrade it and get an expensive one?”

Honestly, the cost of rosin isn’t necessarily the crucial factor. Cheaper rosins may sound better than the expensive ones and conversely, of course. Also, the sound may vary just in nuances. Sometimes you can barely hear it and it’s more about feeling. As a beginner, you don’t need fancy stuff and you can play with the cheapest rosin. Still, I would recommend you to try a few other rosins, because that is the most effective way to find out what is the best one that suits to you.
