Is it 100% true you can’t learn cello without a teacher?
“Do I really need a teacher to learn cello? Couldn’t I teach myself with YouTube or some else platform?”
Well, it all depends on what you want to get out of it. If you want it just for personal enjoyment, you can try to teach yourself. If you actually want to be “a useful cellist”, a teacher is irreplaceable.
With a teacher, your progress will be much bigger and also, they prevent you from learning bad habits, which can lead to harming yourself or making your playing more difficult in future.
There can be many fundamental reasons, why you can’t get a teacher – for example there’s no one in your town or it’s too expensive, and others. However, if you are serious about learning cello, try to get at least few lessons under the guidance of a teacher. The best way is a personal contact, but online teaching via skype or other apps can serve well, too. Also, it’s very popular nowadays and quite affordable, so why not at least give it a try?
